I’m so happy you stopped by! I’ve decided to give this whole blog thing a go – simply because if there’s something I’ve learned about myself over the years, it’s that I truly love connecting with people. But who the heck am I?
I’m a born + raised, champagne obsessed, football loving Texan (go Cowboys!) that always dreamed of what it would be like to live on the west coast, so I decided to take the leap about a decade ago. Wait…what happened to the first 28 years of my life? Alright, alright…let’s back it up a little.
I’m from a small town just outside of Galveston, Texas. I had bikers for parents (hello, 1980’s!) so most of my baby photos I was wearing nothing but a diaper and surrounded by Harley’s. (Maybe that’s where my free spirit comes from) My mom was quite the worrier, so let’s just say I was in daycare well into middle school. #socool Maybe that’s part of the reason I couldn’t wait to graduate high school and officially be on my own.
I high tailed it to college, about three hours away. I’m an August birthday, which meant I was one of the youngest people on campus and had no idea what I wanted to do. I only lasted through a semester and a half before I dropped out and came home. My bright idea was to head back to Houston, get a job + play adult for a while. Well, that wasn’t fun.
A year later, I re-enrolled back into Texas State University for an extremely fun packed, river floatin’ + bar hoppin’ seven years. I mean, that’s what you do in central Texas! Somehow I ended up with a master’s degree in Accounting at the end – Didn’t expect that, did ya? Lol. Numbers came easy to me, so the natural next step was to sit for the CPA exam. I snagged a sweet job at an accounting firm in Dallas and was on my way. However, over the following year I learned that I wasn’t very passionate about accounting. The paycheck was nice, but I was miserable.
I lost my job and picked up a waitressing gig to make ends meet until I could land another job in line with my career. At that time of my life, I figured…why not take a chance? What do I have to lose? So I packed up my car, grabbed my dog + drove to California.
I felt like my life had kind of gone backwards. I was working full time at a mortgage lending company + also waiting tables nights and weekends at Cheesecake Factory to make ends meet. Where did my fun loving life go? I guess at least I was by the beach with year-round beautiful weather right?
That’s when the magic happened. I was about a month away from moving back to Texas when I met the love of my life. He was fun, carefree and wouldn’t stop until he showed me how awesome it would be to stay in California. He must’ve done something right because this year marks ten years of adventures here. We’ve been married for almost five years and have two amazing kiddos, Hudson (almost 4) + Charlie (1.5).
Those two are the reason I took a leap of faith and decided to start a home based business. I yearned for a more flexible work/life balance, and I found it in helping others. It’s been truly fulfilling! For more on that story, click here! (Insert link to “Join My Team” section)
Thanks for tuning in! I can’t wait to share more of my life with you. Xoxo
